Laurel Convergent Catholic Mission at a Glance
A Distinct Identity:
Ancient Faith • Welcoming and Inclusive Church • Serving the Modern World
Laurel Convergent Catholic Mission is a new inclusive, liturgical, Christian community in the Laurel area that represents the Continuing Faith of the Western Church that rejects both the innovations of total Papal Supremacy and Infallibility of Rome, as well as the often simplistic Biblicism of the Reformers. Our roots trace back to Dutch Catholics who resisted Papal attempts to ignore Cannon law and eliminate their existence. We also look to German and other theologians who rejected the "new" Catholicism of Vatican I and adhered to the old.
We hold to the first 6 ecumenical Councils, as well as the Nicene and Apostles Creeds. That said, we are open to many of the scientific and philosophical insights of the recent past, even if we view them through the lenses of the Tradition of the Church.
We are an open, welcoming Church, fully inclusive of LGBTQ* persons in all aspects of our Church Life. We welcome persons of all sexes, gender identities, and orientations to Ordained Ministry as Deacons, Priests, and Bishops.

Worship
Ancient Forms, 21st Century Context
We use the basic shape of the Mass as it has been handed down from the Early Church. Many of our prayers come from the earliest days of the Church, but translated into current idiom.
With the exception of a few hymns, all of our Worship is in the vernacular, and centered on the celebration of the Eucharist, or Holy Communion.
At the moment, we do not have the capacity for music, but we are hoping to be able to add it soon.
Community
Living the Pilgrim Way Together
After we gather on Saturday Night, we will often take time to have a meal together. We are also looking at educational and formation opportunities.

If a person wants to be always in God's company, they must pray regularly and read regularly. When we pray, we talk to God; when we read, God talks to us.
